Recent highly pathogenic coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19 virus) and its rapid international spread has created a serious global public-health emergency.
Entering SARS-CoV-2 into human cells is the key step during the infection process. This is mediated by virus surface spike protein. Recent studies have shown that SARS-CoV-2 spike protein binds to its receptor human Angiotensin I Converting Enzyme 2 (hACE2). To study the mechanism of action of this virus we have generated HEK293 cell line that stably expresses hACE2. This cell line is mycoplasma free and expression of hACE2 has been validated by western blot.
